Day 3: The Adventures of Kayla and Lucy
I'll say it. I don't like Valentine's Day. Growing up, I never did really. I didn't like pink, wear red, or date. Aside from the cinnamon hearts and the chocolate, the day has always seemed a little depressing. But this year is infinitely better than last year already, because I am not in a hospital, waiting for twelve hours for my father to have a stint put in his heart. Ironic on Valentines Day, no? Almost as ironic I suppose as the number of donuts Randy and I ate for "supper" while in the cardiac waiting room.
Anyway, I digress. Instead of ignoring the day altogether, I decided I should do something. So I took a Disney quiz on what kind of Valentine's date I should have. And I took it again, and again, until it told me to have a Lady and the Tramp date. Seeing as I was already planning on having spaghetti and my date just happens to be of the canine persuasion, I found this option most fitting, and it causes the least imposition. Plus it's cold out and Lucy and I don't want to walk anywhere. Well I don't anyway. And decided it was best not to give her the option. She seems quite content standing at the back door watching the neighbour shovel their deck, while smoking... Perhaps I should tell him about my dad :P
The day is pretty perfect so far. Aside from constantly having a certain someone try to shove me off of my couch while keeping the blankets to herself... I won't mention any names... Ucy-Lay... Shhh! It's a code!
But all the meals today are of the comfort variety. Nutella at breakfast. (I promise there was toast involved...) Lunch is a ricotta and feta filled twister with arguably the BEST mushroom soup from a little place in my hometown. And then of course shrimp spaghetti for supper and chocolate cake for dessert. I'm thinking I'll give Miss Lucy some peanut butter as a treat tonight.
Well the dog of the hour is waiting at the basement door for me. I guess she's excited since I told her that she'd be meeting a certain charming pirate on Once today. Perhaps then she will be hooked... (Pun 100% intended!) May you feel as loved today as I always do. Sending love your way from a chocolate brown puppy and a small town girl. <3
