Night Two: The Adventures of Kayla and Lucy
I am sad to say that even after finishing Season One of Once, Lucy has yet to take an interest. Although Ruby as the wolf, and the dragon did peak her interest for a moment or two. Mostly she enjoys hogging as much of my blankets as she can. She seems to go from lap dog to ball of energy with a snap of her fingers. We did enjoy a game of fetch for a little while. She was not interested when I offered rousing game of checkers. But that is probably best as she might have tried to eat the pieces.
It was around lunch time that our quiet day got a little less quiet. Lucy became irrevocably convinced that it was time to eat. I guess she figured if I get three meals a day, then she must too. Back and forth she paced from me to the door where her food is kept. And nothing I said could convince her that supper time wasn't for another three and a half hours. It probably didn't help that I slipped and said the word "supper". Silly of me really. You think I would have learned with my own dog that there are just some words that you can not say. Or eventually spell. Must remember to say dinner until she catches on to the word switch.
Anyway, we both ended up eating super early. Or what I like to call, Bonnie time. Basically 4. But Lucy did enjoy dancing with me while I made my own food. Sorry Mindy, but she seems to enjoy country music. ;)
Sometimes I think she has already acclimated quite well. She even runs downstairs first when she wants a treat for coming inside. And she has basically claimed my chair and couch as her own. We'll have to see if she can manage to find her own bed to sleep in tonight though. But sometimes I think she's a bit sad not having more hustle and bustle in the house to distract her. We're sitting upstairs currently, letting her wander to see that we're the only ones home. I'm pretty sure she's laying on the landing on the stairs; either staring at the door, waiting for another treat... or as the loud noise of incoming puppy just informed me, is ready to play with the one ball we haven't seemed to stockpile in the basement. It always amuses me when she can pick up two balls at once. Now if only she'd find an interest in her bone again...
Well her long trek outside in the snow, playing with a blade of tall grass she pulled earlier in the week should tire her out. And she managed to hang up the phone on Dad which I found very impressive. After such an eventful evening she just may want to sleep... in her bed. But first I must bring in the snow bird and see if I can find her under all that misty white stuff. And explain to her that scratch all she might, she doesn't get to bring the grass inside. Night all!
